Sigma Psi Omega Programs

Sigma Psi Omega Chapter provides the Long Island Community with a variety of local service projects. These programs will improve the lives of individuals in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

I. Educational Enrichment:

ASCEND℠ - Sigma Psi Omega will engage in the sorority’s signature youth enrichment program, ASCEND℠ with efforts designed to motivate, engage and assist high school students in reaching their maximum potential. ASCEND℠ will focus on Achievement, Self-Awareness, Communication, Engagement, Networking and Developmental Skills. Students in the ASCEND℠ Program will have an opportunity to receive academic enrichment and life skills training to support their journey to college or vocational employment.

One Million Packpacks℠ - Sigma Psi Omega will promote the learning process by providing substantial support to students through AKA One Million Packpacks℠. Sigma Psi Omega's goal is to donate and distribute 800 backpacks and related school supplies, over the next 4 years, to assist the Sorority in its quest to achieve one million students served. To date, through partnerships with the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence and the Islip Town Branch of NAACP, Sigma Psi Omega Chapter has more than quadrupled this goal.

  • Sigma Psi Omega Chapter annually donates school supplies to the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD) Buddy Program. LICADD Buddy Program mentors children whose parent(s) are incarcerated.

  • Sigma Psi Omega Chapter partners with the Islip Town Branch of the NAACP on their annual Back to School Rally. This rally provides children and families of the Islip Town with backpacks filled with school supplies and health counseling every August.

Think HBCU℠ - Sigma Psi Omega will actively support all Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).  We will join the national campaign, making Think HBCU℠ a priority by highlighting HBCUs and their contribution through contributions, showcased college fairs, advocacy, and scholarship.
